Notable Mergers & Acquisitions and Asset Transactions

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS

  • Private equity firm TPG Inc finalised its acquisition \of Altus Power Inc in an all-cash transaction, valuing the US clean electricity provider at approximately $2.2 billion, including debt. As a result, Altus stopped trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and transitioned into a privately held entity. The acquisition was executed through TPG’s Rise Climate Transition Infrastructure strategy, with a takeover agreement signed in February 2025, offering $5.00 per share for Altus Power

  • US investment firm Federated Hermes Inc announced the acquisition of a majority stake in UK-based renewable energy projects developer Rivington Energy Management Ltd. The transaction was concluded through a London-based subsidiary, Federated Hermes Limited. The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed

ASSET TRANSACTIONS

  • Metlen Energy & Metals reached an agreement to divest a 588MW portfolio of solar parks and 1.6GWh of co-located battery projects in Chile to a subsidiary of Glenfarne Asset Company LLC for $815 million. The photovoltaic parks, already operational, are strategically distributed across multiple geographic regions and benefit from diverse interconnection nodes within Chile’s Sistema Electrico Nacional (SEN). Meanwhile, the battery energy storage systems are under construction, with plans for commissioning within a year

  • Repsol agreed to sell a 46.3% stake in its 777MW US solar and storage portfolio to Stonepeak for $340 million, valuing the full portfolio at approximately $735 million. When combined with $60 million previously raised through tax equity financing, the total portfolio valuation reaches around $795 million. The portfolio includes the 632MW Frye solar project located in Swisher County, Texas, and the Jicarilla complex in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, which integrates 125MW of solar capacity with 20MW of battery storage

FUND RAISINGS

  • Legal & General Group Plc (L&G), a UK-based asset manager, and Dublin-based renewable energy investor NTR successfully closed their joint clean power infrastructure fund, the L&G NTR Clean Power (Europe) Fund. The fund secured total commitments of €607 million and garnered interest from a wide range of institutional investors across Europe and Japan, including pension funds, insurers, sovereign wealth funds, banks, asset managers, endowments, and foundations

PROJECT FINANCE TRANSACTIONS

  • Israeli renewables developer Enlight Renewable Energy Ltd secured debt financing, enabling it to reach financial close on a 403MW solar project with 688MWh of storage, currently under construction in Sacramento, California, US. The company obtained construction financing commitments totalling $773 million from four lenders, including BNP Paribas Securities Corp, Credit Agricole, Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking, and Norddeutsche Landesbank Girozentrale (Nord/LB)

  • The European Investment Bank (EIB) approved a €527 million loan to Polish utility PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna to support the development and modernisation of renewable energy and storage infrastructure. The financing will enable PGE to roll out a nationwide network of photovoltaic installations with a combined capacity of nearly 730MW. Additionally, the funds will be used to upgrade an existing 540MW pumped-storage power plant

  • Atlas Renewable Energy secured $510 million in financing to develop the Estepa hybrid project in Chile. The project includes a 215MW solar farm paired with two four-hour battery energy storage systems totaling 418MW. Commercial operations are expected to begin by late 2026. The financing was arranged by a consortium of banks, including Crédit Agricole CIB, DNB Bank, BNP Paribas, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, The Bank of Nova Scotia, and Scotiabank Chile
